Mycebo

The story

Honest magic.

Mycebo is a transparent open-label placebo. We sell inert capsules and we say so, clearly, on the label. We believe in the ritual, the intention, and the daily practice — grounded in published open-label placebo research.

The placebo effect works even when you know.

In 2010, Ted Kaptchuk's team at Harvard enrolled patients with irritable bowel syndrome in a trial where every participant was told, plainly, that they were receiving an inert sugar pill. No deception. No blinding. The results: the open-label placebo group still showed statistically significant improvement over the control group.

The mechanism isn't magic — or rather, it's a kind of magic that science can observe. Ritual activates expectation. Expectation primes the nervous system. Consistent daily practice creates conditioning. The capsule is the physical anchor that makes the practice real and repeatable.

Mycebo is built on this foundation. Not to sell people something that doesn't work — but to sell people the actual mechanism of what does.

Why radical transparency?

Every supplement brand in America is quietly selling belief. Mycebo sells belief openly. We think that's more honest, more interesting, and more aligned with the research.

When you know what you're doing and why — when you choose a capsule as a physical anchor for an intention you've named yourself — you're not being tricked. You're being invited into the mechanism. That invitation is the product.

"Not medicine" is on our label because the FDA asks us to put it there. But it's also the brand. The ritual works not in spite of the disclosure — it works because of it. You know. You choose. You practice. That's the point.

The product, plainly.

Pure ritual base

Microcrystalline cellulose

Plant-derived, pharmaceutical-grade, GRAS. Tasteless. The cleanest possible anchor for an intention. Used in the vast majority of capsules on the market.

The capsule shell is HPMC — vegan, halal, and kosher. No animal products. No active pharmaceutical ingredients. No vitamins, minerals, or herbs.

What we're not.

  • Not medicine.

Mycebo products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have a health condition, please work with a qualified healthcare provider.

  • Not a joke.

We're not a novelty gift product (though we make a great one). Mycebo is earnest about the ritual, the science, and the value of intentional daily practice.

  • Not a subscription trap.

We want you to re-order because the practice became meaningful to you — not because we buried you in auto-ship fine print. Re-orders should be your choice, fully.

  • Not a mushroom supplement.

Despite the myco-sounding name — Mycebo is "my placebo," not a mushroom product. We're a ritual brand. The capsule is microcrystalline cellulose — completely inert.

Mycebo ships within the United States only. All copy, claims, and compliance framing are designed under US federal law (DSHEA, FTC Act). Content on this site has not been reviewed by a regulatory attorney prior to launch — a full legal review is in progress. DRAFT — not counsel approved.
